Tajrish Trio is a new collaborative musical project formed during late-night improvisation sessions. Composed by Babak and Nima, the trio's repertoire spans a diverse range of musical styles, actively evading traditional genre classification. The defining characteristic of their work is its unique sonority, heavily influenced by Eastern and Iranian musical traditions. The project serves as a cultural bridge, aiming to introduce contemporary Persian musical elements to wider Australian audiences.

Nima Saeidi is a guitarist and composer with over three decades of experience fusing progressive and fusion music with Iranian influences. Known for his original tunings and singular compositional voice, Nima co-writes the trio’s repertoire alongside pianist Babak Ghazanfari, whose AMEB-trained classical and neoclassical background brings rich harmonic textures and improvisatory flair to every piece.

Anchoring the group’s rhythmic pulse is Amir Makhzani, a Daf and percussion player from Dela Ensemble whose credits include performances at the Illawarra Folk Festival, Kangaroo Valley Festival, and Avaye Rood’s Lights of Rumi. Fresh off his acclaimed Shur project with Hamed Sadeghi at Phoenix Central Park and Paddington Uniting Church, Amir now steers his artistry toward jazz and alternative territory with this trio.

Together, they create music of striking sonority — deeply rooted in Eastern and Iranian tradition, yet unafraid to wander into jazz, fusion, and contemporary improvisation. Tajrish Trio isn’t just a concert; it’s a cultural bridge, inviting Australian audiences into a soundworld rarely heard on local stages.
