Chromatic Fields: Exhibition by Mohammad Noureddini

From 30 October to 10 November 2024, Local Edition Gallery hosted Chromatic Fields, a solo exhibition by Iranian-born, UK-based artist Mohammad Noureddini.

In this series of oil paintings, Noureddini explored the geometry, rhythm, and atmosphere of the landscape. Everyday elements such as fields, trees, and pathways were transformed into simplified forms and luminous planes of colour. The works balanced structure with emotion, offering viewers a sense of both the physical presence of place and its more elusive, shifting moods.

The inspiration for Chromatic Fields emerged from Noureddini’s long cycling and bikepacking journeys. Travelling slowly across diverse terrains gave him the chance to observe subtle transitions in light, tone, and texture. These journeys informed a visual language that moves beyond direct representation; instead, colour and shape become the essential tools for evoking memory, movement, and atmosphere.

By distilling the landscape into abstracted compositions, Noureddini invited audiences to engage with a heightened sensory experience of nature, one that is less about looking at a scene, and more about feeling its rhythm and resonance.
