About the Performance:
«figures & fixtures» consists of three new works created in close collaboration with iipm project with composers Anna Sowa, Yanik Soland, and Elizabeth Jigalin. The works are based on the core form of the flute and percussion duo and form the basis for exploring new areas.
Swiss-based duo, iipm project, is the creative collision of Phoebe Bognár (AU) and Mikołaj Rytowski (PL). Taking everything you know about flute and percussion and turning it on its head, the duo dive headlong into Uncanny Valley for unbounded performative, post-instrumental exploration.
For their Sydney debut, iipm project presents the Australian premiere of pieces from their recent project, «figures & fixtures», a program exploring their multifaceted identities through works commissioned by and created in collaboration with the duo.
Iipm project has presented projects at the ZeitRäume Festival, Open House Basel and Nachtstrom 97 at Gare du Nord (CH) and at the Darmstädter Ferienkursen (DE). Their most recent project, figures & fixtures, features three new collaborative pieces by composers Anna Sowa (PL/CH), Yanik Soland (CH) and Elizabeth Jigalin (AU), which take flute and percussion as the starting point for ideas of expansion, resemblance and subjectivity. This year the duo takes the project on tour in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia. Their next project CON.TACT features works around the theme of touch which they will perform at IGNM Basel in June 2025.
In fluid motion as performers, composers and inventors, iipm project presents ideas in dialogue with the space, the audience and each other.
